About Trippin With Dixi
I see life as an adventure and get inspiration from where I go, what I see and what I do. Thus the name Trippin' With Dixi. We are a small hand dyed fiber company located in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. The name Dixi comes from my middle name Dix. My husband is a good ole' southern boy and he gave me the name Dixi.
I cherish my time in the studio and see it as an adventure of learning and creating new things. I look at knitting as an adventure too. Where you start, where you finish and everywhere in between. Think of all the places one knitting project goes: the soccer games, boat rides, airplanes, road trips and finally landing on your favorite chair in your favorite room.
Color gives life and levity to the otherwise mundane. It lifts my spirit and my mood. For me, dying fiber is like magic and surprise as each color combination reveals itself within the dye pot. As one color melts into another, creating yet another color, I can't help but feel a charge of energy and excitement. I want to do it over and over again. I learn something everyday down in the studio. I accept the flops as a lesson in what not to do and those that work, a gift. I want to create beautiful yarn so I can pass it along to those who knit and crochet to create their own works of art
